  • TSE (Total System Efficiency), HexFin ABLC dimples & Hyperfoil nodes.
  • Tubeless-only / hookless; minimum tire size 28 mm; see Zipp pressure table.
  • ZR1 SL Center-Lock rear hub (12×142 mm) with quick 66-POE engagement.

What tire sizes can I run?

The 454 NSW C1 is tubeless-only and requires 28 mm or larger tires that are approved for hookless rims.

What are the maximum pressures?

Zipp’s guide lists about 72–73 psi (5 bar) for 28 mm and lower caps for wider tires; many riders run lower for best performance.

How deep is the rim?

The patented Sawtooth shape undulates roughly 53–58 mm to balance aero speed with crosswind stability.

What hub and freehub does it use?

ZR1 SL Center-Lock (12×142 mm) with fast 66-POE engagement. Driver bodies: XDR or SRAM/Shimano; Campagnolo available separately.

What is the internal width?

23 mm internal—optimized for 28–32 mm road tires at modern, lower pressures.

Overview

The Zipp 454 NSW C1 Rear is built to turn steady power into steady speed. Zipp’s Sawtooth rim—with Hyperfoil nodes and HexFin ABLC dimples—manages airflow so the wheel stays composed when gusts hit, while the deep profile maintains free speed on flats and rolling terrain. Under Zipp’s Total System Efficiency (TSE) approach, the 23 mm internal width is intended for wider, lower-pressure road tires to reduce aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, and vibration losses on real roads.

Rim & Tire System

This Zipp 454 NSW C1 rear generation uses a tubeless-only, hookless carbon rim with a minimum 28 mm tire requirement. Zipp’s pressure guidance caps a 28 mm setup near 72–73 psi (5 bar), with lower maximums for wider sizes. Most riders will run below those caps to unlock comfort, grip, and efficiency—the design intent of the platform.

Drive & Braking

The rear uses Zipp’s premium ZR1 SL Center-Lock hub (12×142 mm) featuring fast 66-point engagement and ceramic bearings. Freehub options include XDR and SRAM/Shimano, with Campagnolo bodies available separately. Braking is rotor-based only, so there’s no rim-brake track to consider.

Who it’s for

Time-triallists, triathletes, and speed-focused road riders who want deep-rim gains without white-knuckle crosswind moments—and who plan to run modern 28–32 mm tubeless tires at sensible pressures.
