How To Buy A Bike With Us: 10 Easy Steps

We get it. Ordering a bike online can feel a wee bit daunting. That's why we have put our heads together to present a simple step-by-step guide on how to buy a bike with us. Rest assured: We are here to support you every step of the way (it is as much in our own interest, as it is in yours, to ensure you get the right bike for you).

Step 1: Visit the 'Bikes' section of our website

You probably already know that purchasing a bike is a uniquely individual experience that requires research and thoughtful consideration. We have endeavoured to capture as much information as possible in the 'Bikes' section of our website, and we encourage you to go over the details to ensure you understand them. Focus on the broader considerations first: What type of bike are you looking for (e.g., road, gravel, mountain, other)? What's your budget? Are there any 'must-haves' that are important to you (e.g., carbon frame)? Then, narrow it down to a few options.

Step 2: Determine your size

At NOMAD, we are committed to ensuring that your bike is the right fit. Why? Because a bike that fits properly is instrumental to an enjoyable riding experience—and we want you to love cycling as much as we do. Sadly, however, there are too many cyclists out there riding bikes that haven't been properly sized or fitted because they did it themselves, or they visited an ill-equipped fitter. That's why we have partnered with MyVeloFit, a fellow Canadian company, to ensure you find the right size and build.

MyVeloFit is revolutionizing the bike sizing and fitting process through artificial intelligence (AI). Their technology has been designed to identify the same body segments and joint angles that professional bike fitters use to evaluate your position on the bike—and it's all done online!

MyVeloFit is independent of NOMAD and is in the business of ensuring your bike is the right size and fit for you. How? It uses measurements collected via video and their powerful algorithms to determine a unique fit score for you across a range of bikes. Simple adjustments, such as stem length, can be made to improve the overall fit score of a given bike and ensure that you select the right size with confidence.

We partnered with MyVeloFit to provide you with a free, independent sizing assessment to empower you to make the right decision for you. If that means purchasing a bike with us, then we'll be thrilled. But, we understand if you find a bike with a more optimal fit elsewhere. At the end of the day, our mission is simple: To get more people riding their (right-sized) bikes. To get it right, trust the bike fitters that are singularly focused on getting you the right fit—not selling you a bike.

Remember that, for any bike purchase you make (with or without NOMAD), identifying the right size only gets you halfway there. Once you receive your bike, you should ensure your bike is properly fitted for you, which we describe in more detail below.

Step 3: Select your new bike

Now that you have narrowed down the type of bike that you are looking for and have a sense for the size that is the most suitable for you, you can get to the fun stuff: Selecting your new bike. Your ideal bike might not be sitting on a shelf ready to roll, but we're here to help you track down the perfect model and build for you. If your preferred size and/or specs aren't on our website, reach out to us and we'll do everything we can to source it for you, or to make your must-have customizations. Or, maybe, you just want to chat about it. Whatever your reason, reach out to us! We'd love to hear from you.

Step 4: Purchase your new bike

If your bike is available and doesn't require any customizations, you can simply place your order through our website.

For bikes that require customizations (and, therefore, will have their prices adjusted), it is often easier for us to email you an invoice that can be paid online or via telephone.

If your bike needs to be special ordered, we require a 20% deposit that cannot be refunded, but can be converted to store credit in the event the order is cancelled.

At NOMAD, we offer financing on all of our products via PayBright. We can assist you in working through the details. Simply reach out to us.

Step 5: Prepare for your bike to arrive

Once your purchase is confirmed, we fine-tune your bike according to the outcome of your MyVeloFit sizing process, as described above (if you opted to go through the bike sizing process via MyVeloFit).

Then, we pack it up and ship it to you! We offer FREE shipping on all bikes. Signature is required on all bike deliveries.

For customers living in and around the Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), we offer local delivery. Inquire for details. Local deliveries require that the recipient be available to accept the package.

Please allow 7 days for us to fine-tune your bike, as described above. Once passed over to the courier, shipping timelines depend on your location within Canada and typically range from 2-7 business days.

We offer expedited shipping for bikes, which is charged at cost and is non-refundable (for example, in the event of a return or courier delays). Please reach out to us if you would like us to expedite your bike purchase.

Step 6: Know what to expect when your bike arrives

Bikes are mostly assembled in the box and ready to ride when they are shipped. Minimal assembly is required, most notably: Seat post, handlebars, pedals, and wheels. Instructions are provided.

At this stage, you might want to consider putting your bike on an indoor trainer and completing your more detailed bike fit with MyVeloFit using the complimentary fit ($50 value) you receive when you purchase a bike with us.

Step 7: Ensure your bike is properly fitted for you

When you purchase a bike with us, you receive a complimentary virtual bike fit ($50 value) with MyVeloFit. When you invest in a new bike, you want to be confident that the fit is dialed in just right for your comfort and performance (like you would a jersey, or bibshorts). With your bike in hand, MyVeloFit will guide you through a comprehensive virtual fit process (you'll need an indoor trainer to complete the fit) to ensure the appropriate adjustments are made so you can get the most from your ride. This process includes a personal mobility assessment; joint angle measurements at three positions in your pedal stroke; joint tracking to identify excess movement; and where you fall in the acceptable ranges based on your mobility and fit goals.

The result? Detailed adjustment recommendations for your saddle height, saddle fore/aft, handlebar height, and overall reach to help you attain an optimal position on the bike.

The outcome is a custom bike fit specific to you and your unique needs. We've partnered with MyVeloFit because we trust in the experts to provide an independent and consistent quality bike fit without a sales agenda. It's that simple.

Step 8: Understand our return policy

Further to above, we highly recommend you take advantage of the free, independent expert fit assessment conducted by MyVeloFit with whom we, at NOMAD, have proudly partnered to ensure your bike is the right fit for you.

You can return your bike within 15 days of the delivery date for a refund less a 5% restocking fee. The bike must be unused and in its original condition (which is determined at our discretion), and must be accompanied by its original packaging (e.g., boxes, tags, manuals). The bikes may include promotional codes and/or warranty registrations tied to their serial numbers. If these codes are activated and/or if products are registered, we can no longer accept their return. The cost of return shipping is covered by you.

In the event of an exchange, we will waive the restocking fee and your replacement bike will be shipped to you at no cost to you. The cost of return shipping of your original bike is covered by you.
