Muc-Off Brand Story

Like so many of the brands that we've come to know and love in the world of cycling, Muc-Off started with a passion, a problem, and a change in direction. Back in 1991, Rex and Marilyn Trimnell were making twin crown bicycle forks and the world's lightest bar ends. As cool as that is, Rex needed more and set out to solve the problem of getting that pesky dirt off his mountain bikes. Throw in some elbow grease and quality R&D and in 1994 Muc-Off was borne. The first product was a true-to-form, perfectly pink, solvent, which was eco-friendly and suitable for high quality bike components.

In the decade that followed, Muc-Off partnered with the likes of Steve Peat and expanded the product line extensively. New ventures saw the brand produce cleaning products for motorcycles and the world of car care. Innovations continued with a completely bio-degradable line of bicycle lubricants, a world-beating hydrodynamic lube, and ever more accessories, such as the Muc-Off pressure washer, to ensure you've got the cleanest bike on the trail...so you can make it dirty again, of course!

In the 2010s Muc-Off really became a prominent player on the world cycling stage. Sponsorship of the Sky Cycling Team - you may remember them...they did okay - saw them part of multiple Tour de France and Giro d'Italia wins with Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, and Egan Bernal. If that's not enough, Muc-Off also played a key role in optimizing Bradley Wiggins' equipment for his successful hour record attempt in 2015. They even took a foray into the high stakes world of Formula 1 racing with sponsorship of the Sahara Force India team. So yes, the products are of the highest quality.

Why NOMAD Loves Muc-Off

We're pretty serious believers in keeping your bike clean and running smoothly. It's just more fun to be on a bike that has been well maintained. A clean bike is quite literally faster than a dirty bike, especially when it comes to the drivetrain. If you aren't properly cleaning your rig and using some quality lubricants to reduce friction and wear, you're seriously missing out and wasting money in the long run.

At NOMAD, we test and use every product that we offer to you. If we don't like it, we don't keep it around, it's that simple. Walk through our workshop and you'll always see a couple bottles of the tell tale pink liquid. We're also big fans of the Muc-Off cleaning kits and lubricants and find ourselves using the c3 ceramic dry lube with UV torch frequently. Admittedly we thought the UV torch was a gimmick, but it helps avoid putting too much lubricant on your chain, which inevitably leads to a need for another bike cleaning.

As mentioned above, Muc-Off produces quality products for bikes (and cars) that are engaged in higher stakes races than most of us can ever dream of. We stock a large variety of Muc-Off Canada products because we trust them. Fast, efficient, and bio-degradable. What's not to love?

As always, if you have any questions or aren't sure which cleaners and lubricants are most suitable for your bike, please reach out to us for assistance.
