  • TSE (Total System Efficiency), HexFin ABLC dimples & Hyperfoil nodes.
  • Tubeless-only / hookless; minimum tire size 28 mm.
  • ZR1 SL Center-Lock front hub (12 mm thru-axle).
  • Max pressure guidance: ~72–73 psi for 28 mm (see Zipp table).

What tire sizes can I run?

The 454 NSW C1 is tubeless-only and requires 28 mm or larger tires approved for hookless rims.

What are the maximum pressures?

Zipp lists about 72–73 psi (5 bar) for 28 mm, with lower caps for wider tires; many riders run lower for best performance.

How deep is the rim?

The patented Sawtooth profile varies roughly 53–58 mm, balancing aero speed with crosswind stability.

Which hub does the front wheel use?

Zipp’s ZR1 SL Center-Lock front hub (12 mm thru-axle).

What is the internal width?

23 mm internal—optimized around 28–32 mm road tires at modern, lower pressures.

Overview

The Zipp 454 NSW C1 Front is built to carry speed on rolling and windy days. Its trademark Sawtooth profile undulates through the rim—using Hyperfoil nodes and HexFin ABLC dimples—to shed smaller, more frequent vortices. The result is deep-rim efficiency with notably calm steering when crosswinds arrive. Wrapped in Zipp’s Total System Efficiency (TSE) philosophy, the wheel pairs modern tire volumes and lower pressures with a wide 23 mm internal width to reduce drag, rolling resistance and vibration losses on real roads.

Rim & Tire System

This Zipp 454 NSW C1 Front is tubeless-only and hookless, designed around 28–32 mm road tires. Zipp specifies a minimum 28 mm tire and a maximum pressure of roughly 72–73 psi (5 bar) for a 28 mm setup, with lower maxima for wider sizes. In practice, most riders will run below those caps to unlock the comfort and efficiency benefits the platform is tuned for.

Aerodynamics & Handling

The 454 NSW’s variable-depth rim (about 53–58 mm) was developed to balance top-end aero with stability. By manipulating boundary-layer behavior through its dimples and nodes, the wheel reduces steering torque in gusts—useful for triathletes, time-trialists, and road riders seeking deep-rim speed without white-knuckle moments.

Hub & Brake Interface

The C1 front uses Zipp’s premium ZR1 SL Center-Lock disc hub for smooth rolling and easy service. It ships for a 12 mm thru-axle and is disc-brake only, so there’s no rim brake track to consider when selecting tires.

Fit notes

Use tubeless-rated tires of 28 mm or larger that are explicitly approved for hookless rims, and follow Zipp’s pressure calculator/table for your weight and tire size.
