The ENVE AR40 is a modern “all-road” carbon wheelset that sits at the sweet spot for everyday speed: deep enough to deliver meaningful aero efficiency, wide enough to support today’s bigger road tires, and tough enough for rougher pavement and light off-road detours. ENVE positions the AR40 as the newest Foundation option, pairing a 40mm aerodynamic rim depth with a wide 25mm internal profile for versatility across road riding, racing, and mixed surfaces.

Rim profile, hookless bead and tubeless intent

The ENVE AR40 uses a hookless/straight-sidewall rim profile and is specified for tubeless tires only. ENVE’s “Wide Hookless Bead” is designed to help dissipate impact energy at the rim edge and reduce pinch-flat risk from potholes and sharp hits. Tire guidance is published by ENVE: the wheel is optimized around larger modern road tires, with an official recommended range of 27–50mm and a minimum 27mm tubeless tire that must appear on ENVE’s approved/recommended tire list. ENVE also notes the AR40 is designed for tubeless tires greater than 28mm wide, so most riders will land in the 28–32mm (and beyond) sweet spot for real-world speed and comfort.

Build, hubs and brake interface

Each wheel is built with Sapim CX-Ray J-bend spokes (24h) and brass locking nipples, laced to ENVE INNERDRIVE Foundation hubs. The wheelset is disc-brake only with a Center Lock interface, and uses modern road thru-axle standards: 12×100 front and 12×142 rear.
