DeFeet Socks

The great thing about the crew at DeFeet is that, not only are they cyclists, but they took a passion for designing great socks and turned it into a sustainable business. They field test their own products and stand behind the product with a quality guarantee that is pretty amazing for something worn in the muck and dirt that cyclists often place their feet.

  • DeFeet's Design Approach:
DeFeet adopted a unique design approach where they flipped the conventional structure.
  • The State of Cycling Socks in 1992:
Back in 1992, cyclists typically used socks that were disposable, plain white, and lacked elasticity. These socks were made with a fragile external layer and an internal nylon layer.
  • Innovation with The Aireator:
The Aireator sock was ingeniously re-engineered to enhance its longevity, functionality, and the wearer's comfort. This involved moving the nylon component to the exterior for added toughness, while the softer materials remained in contact with the skin.
  • Commitment to American-Made Fibers:
DeFeet is committed to using fibers produced within the United States.
  • Quality Over Cost:
Instead of opting for less expensive, imported fibers that are prone to damage, forming pills, or providing an unpleasant texture on the skin, DeFeet has chosen to keep their supply chain local, ensuring access to the finest quality fibers that are both durable and comfortable.
  • Sustainable and Traceable Materials:
They take pride in their traceable Merino wool, which is sourced from Oregon and processed in the Carolinas. Additionally, their recycled fiber, known as Repreve®, is produced in North Carolina using plastic bottles recycled within the local community.
