The Zipp 858 NSW D1 Rear Wheel is engineered for speed on flat and rolling terrain, combining Zipp’s deepest NSW rim with a wide 23 mm internal profile optimized for modern low-pressure, wider road tires. Its design under the Total System Efficiency (TSE) concept reduces aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, and vibration losses on real roads.

Rim & Tire System

This wheel features a tubeless-only, hookless carbon rim requiring a minimum 28 mm tire. The patented Sawtooth rim profile (approximately 82–85 mm deep) with Hyperfoil nodes and HexFin ABLC dimples manages airflow to reduce steering torque and improve stability in crosswinds. Recommended maximum pressures are about 72 psi for 28 mm tires and 65 psi for 30–32 mm tires.

Drive & Braking

The wheel rides on a premium ZR1 SL Center-Lock rear hub (12×142 mm) featuring a quick 66-point engagement mechanism. It supports Shimano 11-speed and SRAM XDR driver bodies, with Campagnolo options sold separately. Braking is rotor-based only; there is no rim brake track.
